Annapolis Valley Health

Valley Regional Hospital, which opened in 1992, serves the people of Kings County as their community hospital, and provides specialty services as a regional referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

  • Dressing equipment (long handled reacher, long handled shoe horn and sock aid) OPTIONAL, but recommended
  • Loose and comfortable clothing such as jogging pants and shorts.

Equipment for Home

  • Walker (2 wheeled)
  • Cane *progressing from walker
Sitting Aids:
  • Firm foam cushion (at least 4”x16”x18”)
  • Raised toilet seat (with or without armrests) OR standard commode chair
Dressing Aids:
  • Long handled reacher
  • Long handled shoehorn
Bathing Aids:
  • Long handled sponge
  • Non-slip bathmat
For Walk-in Shower:
  • Shower chair

For Bathtub:

  • Tub transfer bench or shower stool
  • Grab bars or add-on tub rail
  
Optional, but Recommended:

  • Dressing - sock aid
  • Elastic shoe laces (otherwise use slip on shoes with an enclosed heel)
Bathing Aids:
  • Hand-held shower hose
